Happy Birthday Danica McKellar!

Right. Time to get this blag back on track. I'll try to finally get a couple of 2009 recap posts done next week.

In the meanwhile, it is a tradition on this blag to mark birthdays of hot chicks. January 3. is the birthday of Danica McKellar.

Danica is an American actress, best known for her role as Winnie Cooper in the TV show The Wonder Years. As you can see, she has grown up nicely. She has a Bacon number of 2.

Though a child actor Danica didn't neglect her education, and majored in mathematics, which is hot. As an undergraduate at UCLA she co-wrote a mathematical paper on what is referred to as 'Chayes-McKellar-Winn theorem'. This gives her an Erdős number of 4, and makes her one of relatively few people with a finite Erdős-Bacon number.

She is also the author of New York Times bestselling books Math Doesn't Suck and Kiss My Math, which encourage schoolgirls to study mathematics, and challenge the unfortunate notion that math isn't for girls. Go Danica!

A mathematician, role model, and hot chick: happy birthday Danica!
