Funny Rednecks

Lindsey and I went to this place in Wilmore for lunch today.  Do not worry if you never heard of Wilmore, it is not really important for the story.  There were six people in this tiny little diner and they were discussing politics.  This is what I heard, which was mainly between a really fat guy, an older lady, and her husband.  Unfortunately, I did not hear too much before this, but they were talking about Obama, but I was not able to tell if they were for or against.

Fat Guy:  It sickens me about this same-sex marriage shit.  Those queers have way too much power in the country.  When I went to Cape Cod, all those rich doctors and lawyers were queers.  They wanted their rights, and boy did they get them.  There was a judge up there who wouldn't give it to 'em though.  Wouldn't let 'em hold hands in public.

Older Lady:  It is disgusting the way this country is falling apart.  Those people have so much power, look at the ACLU!  They are nothing, but a bunch of Communists.  Everyone knows that!

Husband:  This president is ruining this country.  That's what people get for voting for a...socialist.

I laughed at most of this because it was actually kind of amusing, but at the same time, it was scary.  I sometimes believe that things like prejudice and racism are disappearing in the country, but then you realize that is not the case at all.

So, from what I understand from these people, homosexuals hold all the power in Washington.  Probably one of the most powerful lobbies, most likely pushing their weight around and in the next few years will have the flag changed to pink, cream, and lavender.  Also, the ACLU is a Communist front, which most likely helps President Obama try and destroy this country.  Yep, that all makes sense.

Also, I honestly think the guy wanted to use another word instead of socialist, but decided against it at the last moment...

Evan Feinberg is a Steelers Fan!

This is a video of the funny ad that Evan Feinberg has been playing on The Fan in Pittsburgh.  Pretty funny stuff.  Obviously these are the important issues...

Also, over at TIGO, Rich has an interview with Feinberg, you should check it out.

2012: The End is Here

As some of you are probably aware, this is pretty much the end of the world.  Yes, 2012 is here and with this year marks the end.  Obviously if you watch anything on television they have told you about all this stuff, right?

Anyways, throughout the year I plan on writing as much as I can about the idiocy of these people who believe in this crap.  I know, I should not give it any attention, but the way people misconstrue things to fit this idea cracks me up.  Neither here nor there though.

The sad thing about the whole 2012 thing is the way gullible people just buy into it.  This kid at work argued with me up and down about how it was going to happen because scientists said so on the History Channel.  He thinks it will be massive earthquakes and all of civilization will collapse.

I tried to explain to him that the Mayans did not really predict the end of the world, just the end of the cycle, like when your calendar runs out and you need a new one.  He did not get it.  Also, he thinks aliens are constantly attacking the planet, so he is more or less a moron.  But hey, at least he is stocking up on bottled water...

Here is another scary thought:  how many people are taking this sort of thing into consideration when they vote for president?  Maybe people think Mitt Romney looks like the kind of guy who could lead during the end of the world.

Anyways, you can watch this video to learn a little bit more.  You can sign up and get in contact with your elected officials to let them know you are against these bills.  I actually received a reply from one of mine and how he plans to vote against it.

NYPD Stops a Riot Warren Ellis Style

Apparently the NYPD decided to block off the subway and streets so they could stop the Occupy Wall Street protests.  No journalists could go in and report what was happening and I can imagine it went something like what Warren Ellis wrote about in Transmetropolitan:  Back on the Street.

In fact, at one point Spider Jerusalem makes the following comment on the Transient Riots:
The Transients couldn't have managed this on their own.  They're just big kids who thought it'd be fun to live inside an alien body.  A sane society would've tagged them for the waterheads they are and bought them a big playground.
Replace Transients with Occupy Wall Street protesters and you really have the same thing.  Then there is this quote from later:
It's a show of power.  How dare anybody ignore the authority of Civic Center?  How dare a bunch of freaks try and think for themselves?  So let's go out and stomp on children, lunatics, and incompetents, because by damn it makes our balls feel big.
I am guessing the cops did not want to journalists around so they could do some major ass-stomping, mainly on a bunch of potheads and college kids.

Thoughts on Jerry Sandusky

Unless you have been living under a rock, I am sure you heard about Jerry Sandusky.  For those not familiar, basically he has been charged with being a monster.  He was molesting children, which is by far one of the worst crimes imaginable.  Seriously, read this grand jury report and if he is eventually found guilty, tell me that he does not deserve to be taken out back behind the chemical shed and shot.

Here are a few of my thoughts on the whole situation:

-When I first read the grand jury report, I kept wondering who the graduate assistant was who walked in on Sandusky anally raping a boy.  My first thought was why didn't the kid scream something at Sandusky?  Try to stop him.  Then I heard that it was Mike McQueary, who when he was a QB at PSU, was listed at 6'4 225 lbs.  Obviously, he could have easily grabbed Sandusky and beat the crap out of him.

Instead he ran to Paterno and told him what he saw.  After that, he never once thought to follow up and find out if the police were arresting Sandusky?  I wonder if this is how he ended up with one of the coaching positions...

-I have thought long and hard about the situations that could lead Joe Paterno into not questioning why Sandusky was never arrested.  The only thing I could come up with was that maybe after he told Curley, maybe Curley came back to him and said that the police looked into it and found nothing.

Unfortunately, this does not make sense.  If that were the case, why did they say that Sandusky could no longer use the facilities?  Joe Paterno should have asked some serious questions at that point.  Also, if nothing was found through whatever made up investigation Paterno thought there was, then why not punish McQueary for lying?  Remember, I am pointing this out from Joe Paterno's POV.  If he does not see Sandusky punished, he has to figure that nothing was found, right?  Well if that were the case, why would he want McQueary on his staff?

-So it seems to me that not only did Curley and Schultz know about  it, but so did Joe Paterno and most likely Graham Spanier.  After Spanier's comments, he also needs to step down (or be fired, I am fine with either one).

-What about Paterno?  Well, I think he should retire after the season.  Why after the season?  Well, should the current players be punished because of this situation.  The same goes with people saying this should taint Paterno's legacy.  Granted, he will be remembered negatively, but those teams of his should still be remembered for providing us many great memories over the years.  Those kids worked hard and won those games, they do not deserve to be remembered as the teams that played for a child molester.

-What about us fans?  Remember folks, just because we live and breath Penn State football, does not mean that we support child molesters.  That is the same as saying every Catholic is a child molester because of a few bad priests.  And for you other college football fans who are absolutely loving this, try to think about how it would feel if this were your favorite team...

-What should Jerry Sandusky do?  He should put a gun in his mouth and pull the trigger.  He is a monster.  If you read the report, you can see that it was not some weird random pervert thing, instead it was all carefully planned, practiced, and executed.

-This will stick with the university forever, but the thing to do is cut ties with everyone and go out and double the amount you might have paid for Urban Meyer.  Let him bring respectability back to the program and make them national contenders.

-On a sorta related note, how come it took this long for the Attorney General to start investigating all of this?  I wonder if Tom Corbett knew about it when he was AG and did not want to start the investigation until after he was elected governor?  Maybe he has a bunch of Penn State alumni campaign donors?  Just thinking out loud on this one...

The Fifth of November

I figure this was somewhat appropriate.  Obviously this country could probably do with a little help from someone like V.  Or not, depending on what you believe.  Although, the more we allow religious groups interfere with politics, it will not be long until we see signs like this one:

Believing in God will help this country though these difficult times...at least God was nice enough to give us this awesomeness today!
